We have large floor to ceiling double hung windows on the main floor - 5 of them. He decided that instead of glazing, he would purchase very small molding and use that instead - part of the reason is that he is not very handy with a caulk bead (last attempt, he used a peeled and cut potato instead of his finger...) and so he thought that glazing would be the same way.

Last summer, we finished one full window; top and bottom, and the top half of a second. We have not yet started this year - but we have big plans.

I'm really enjoying this portion of your blog - I'm reading it from start to finish :)baby sisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05190907696258315177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147432208989703659.post-12001783229341868282008-02-01T19:33:00.000-05:002008-02-01T19:33:00.000-05:00I'm constantly checking the Weather Underground si...I'm constantly checking the Weather Underground site. They have very good radar shots. Plus most of the time they are correct.

If you ever find that a tool has too small of a grip on it, you can take a piece of foam pipe insulation and wrap around the handle and secure with electrical tape or duct tape. This will increase the diameter of the handle. I've used that on hammers, rakes, and my handle area of my push mower. Just make sure you wrap it tight.

Hey, just try restoring your smallest window first. The hard part is just getting started. The first one is the worst one.Jan Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12200868370970054076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147432208989703659.post-13156035217879697492008-02-01T06:03:00.000-05:002008-02-01T06:03:00.000-05:00I work nights, too. Kinda nice on the way in, monster winter weather on the way home.

By the way, I really admire your ability to repair windows. I don't think I have anywhere near the skill necessary to do that. And the bit about the open grasp of the tool not tiring out your hand is what I was trying to say about the Zinsser wallpaper thingys having big round handles.

Good luck with your project!Jaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03564514698418229865noreply@blogger.com
